The Central Consumer Protection Authority (CCPA) has penalised nine digital platforms, including major names like IndiGo, Zepto, FirstCry, PhysicsWallah, and SpiceJet, for deploying "dark patterns" to manipulate consumer choices.
The government shared the details in a written reply in the Rajya Sabha, highlighting heightened regulatory efforts against unfair digital trade practices.

Additional penalties were imposed on FirstCry (INR 2 lakh), Anuj Jindal (INR 3 lakh), PharmEasy (INR 1 lakh), McAfee (INR 1 lakh), and SpiceJet (INR 1 lakh).
These platforms were directed to eliminate various deceptive interface elements, including hidden charges, forced subscriptions, and manipulative renewal prompts.
