This was the moment an e-scooter rider fled from Fife police as officers targeted riders during a major eight-hour crackdown. The police were targeting known public areas where the illegal use and antisocial behaviour linked to electric bikes and e-scooters is a continuing problem. The Courier Focus was given exclusive access to the operation, as we accompanied senior officers and observed the special tactics being deployed to tackle the issue. It comes amid rising concerns over the use of these vehicles in Fife, which sparked a public meeting last month. However, its ability to follow, monitor and film offenders riding illegal bikes and scooters across a huge area has been hailed as a “game-changer” for police tackling this particular issue.
