Fife Council’s Conservative leader says the group has hit rock bottom as another councillor joins the party exodus.
Mr Leslie became the fifth member to quit in 15 months, citing the party was “no longer the right place” for him.
Mr Leslie’s daughter, former Conservative group leader Kathleen Leslie, resigned at the start of July and has since joined Labour.
He said: “Yesterday I took the decision to leave the Conservative group on Fife Council and resign my membership of the Scottish Conservative Party.
“However, it became clear that the Conservative group was no longer the right place for me.
