Roger Koch defeated Walter Hayes to win the Republican nomination for Missouri House District 162. Koch received 3,238 votes, or 64.49%, while Hayes finished with 1,783 votes, or 35.51%. Hayes serves on the Carl Junction Board of Aldermen and previously held leadership positions with the Carl Junction Area Chamber of Commerce. The two Republicans competed to replace state Rep. Bob Bromley, who was unable to seek another term because of term limits. District 162 includes Webb City, Carl Junction, Airport Drive, Asbury and Waco.
