A new marketplace has opened on Detroit's west side, Shops on Six. This marketplace, on West McNichols Road near San Juan Drive, is a community marketplace where residents can shop for affordable groceries and other products. Westside residents will be able to shop for groceries at The Counter small-format grocery store offering fresh foods. Founder of The Counter, Karlyta Williams, said her great-grandparents inspired the concept after they owned a market in southwest Detroit. Fatima Geter lives near Shops on Six, and she summed up what it means to those in the area.
