ROCKPORT —Aransas County commissioners continued reviewing the proposed fiscal year 2027 budget Tuesday, reducing several departmental requests while discussing employee compensation, staffing needs and additional opportunities for savings before the budget is finalized. During the workshop, commissioners reviewed budget requests from elected officials and department heads and agreed to remove or reduce several proposed expenses. Instead of adding the position, commissioners favored monitoring overtime expenses as newer employees gain experience and become more efficient. The change would reduce the proposed budget by nearly $33,000. The budget workshop concluded without formal action.
