The Fields Park in Northwest Portland has been temporarily closed as city officials continue to assess potential hazards following the four-alarm fire at the vacant Centennial Mills building earlier this week. The closure follows Sunday’s massive four-alarm fire that destroyed much of the historic 116-year-old Centennial Mills warehouse along the Willamette River. “The safety of all workers, park visitors, and neighbors remains Portland Parks & Recreation’s top priority,” the agency said in a news release. Dog owners looking for an alternative off-leash area are encouraged to visit Couch Park or Wallace Park in Northwest Portland while The Fields remains closed. No timeline has been announced for when The Fields Park will reopen.
