Pope Leo XIV will make an apostolic trip to Uruguay, Argentina and Peru from November 6-17, a nearly two-week tour that will be his first papal visit to Latin America.
The first stage of the trip will take place in Uruguay, where Leo XIV will stay from November 6-8.
The visit will have a special meaning for Peru, a country where Leo XIV did extensive pastoral and missionary work for years.
The pope, then Father Robert Prevost, lived in Peru for more than two decades in total.
He was there until January 2023 when he was appointed by Pope Francis as prefect of the Dicastery for Bishops.
