The SA Navy’s submarine SAS Manthatisi (S101) has returned to sea, marking her first outing since a tragic incident in 2023 that claimed the lives of three submariners, Cape {town} Etc reports.
A return to the waterSAS Manthatisi’s latest outing comes after the 2023 incident, which occurred off Kommetjie during a vertical replenishment exercise.
The submarine has now been seen operating at sea again, with footage captured by Dean Wingrin showing SAS Manthatisi out in the bay.
Her return has also been welcomed by Deep South Report, which described it as good to see the submarine back at sea.
