Troops under Operation Hadin Kai have foiled an attempted terrorist infiltration along the Gujba–Buni Yadi road in Yobe State, forcing about 30 suspected insurgents to flee after a gun battle. The troops opened fire on the insurgents, forcing them to abandon the infiltration attempt and retreat. Military sources said surveillance and monitoring efforts were continuing to prevent the insurgents from regrouping or launching fresh attacks. The operation comes as troops intensify offensive operations under Operation Desert Sanity V, aimed at destroying terrorist hideouts and restricting their movement across the North-East. Military authorities said the security situation in the region remained calm but unpredictable, adding that troops were maintaining a high level of vigilance and operational readiness.
