The Royal College of Nursing has called on UK governments to urgently publish specific guidance for staff working in health and care settings on how to apply a new code covering single-sex spaces. Following the ruling, the EHRC developed an updated Code of practice for service providers, public functions and associations. The EHRC said its updated version of the code did not make new law or create any new legal obligations. The RCN warned today that, despite the updated code coming into effect, governments in the relevant parts of the UK still have not released sector-specific guidance for health and care services. RCN chief nursing officer Professor Lynn Woolsey said: “Without guidance, there remain many unanswered questions for nursing staff providing patient care in our health services.
