Oxfordshire County Council has submitted a bid to government for £8M to repair the weight-restricted Donnington Bridge in the south of Oxford.
Donnington Bridge has operated under a weight restriction since summer 2024 after deterioration was detected in inspections.
The council has now made a bid to the government’s Structures Fund for £8M to fund a strengthening scheme.
The Structures Fund forms part of the 10-Year Infrastructure Strategy, which was released last year.
“We want to see Donnington Bridge restored to full working capacity for the benefit of all road users and the residents of the city generally.”
