A Massachusetts state forensic toxicologist told jurors Wednesday that blood samples taken from Lindsay Clancy after the deaths of her three children contained several prescribed psychiatric medications, offering some of the most closely watched medical evidence yet in the high-profile murder trial.
Clancy has pleaded not guilty, with her attorneys arguing she was not criminally responsible because she was suffering from postpartum psychosis and an undiagnosed bipolar disorder.
State toxicologist details blood test findingsJustin Brower, a forensic toxicologist with NMS Laboratories, testified that testing identified several prescription medications in Clancy's blood, including mirtazapine, lamotrigine, trazodone and quetiapine.
Earlier forensic testimony also established that investigators found no evidence of alcohol or illicit drugs in Clancy's system, with testing identifying only prescribed medications.
Prosecutors, however, maintain that Clancy acted deliberately and have argued she remained capable of making intentional decisions despite her mental health struggles.
