Groups challenging Line 5 are praising the most recent court decision.
Last Friday, the Michigan Supreme Court vacated the Michigan Public Service Commission’s approval of Enbridge Energy’s Line 5 replacement project and punted the process back to that regulatory agency.
Michigan Climate Action Network Director Denise Keele wants to argue to the commission that alternate energy should be considered instead of oil and gas.
“Michigan is a leader advancing 100% clean energy by 2040.
And this decision is a huge win for us as we now have a chance to stop new fossil fuel infrastructure and avoid nearly 30 million tons of carbon emissions annually.”
