The fifth edition of the T20 competition is scheduled to start in mid-January. The Sunrisers open the tournament with a match against Pretoria Capitals at St George’s Park on 17 January 2027. Tristan Stubbs is expected to again captain the Sunrisers who have just two spots open in their squad of 19. MI Cape Town, the only other team besides the Sunrisers to have won the competition, have six openings in their squad. Jason Holder, Donovan Ferreira, Rilee Rossouw and Prenelan Subrayen will again feature, but Faf du Plessis has not been retained.
