The UT-level Governing Body/Approval Committee will be headed by the Administrative Secretary, Social Welfare Department, as its Chairman. Two social workers nominated by the Social Welfare Department will serve as additional members. The District Social Welfare Officer will serve as Member Secretary, while the Chief Medical Officer will also be a member. The district committees have been tasked with receiving and scrutinising applications seeking assistance from the fund. The district committees will also have to ensure that only applications not already covered or supported under any other scheme or programme are forwarded for consideration.
