AgriLife Extension economist: Cattle prices haven’t hit the ceiling yet
['Kay Ledbetter']
The Gilmer Mirror
Beef cattle prices have not reached a ceiling, according to a Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service beef economist.
Pastures and hay fields were still holding condition, though sandy soils were severely lacking moisture and forage growth was slowing after cuttings and grazing.
Pasture mealybug hit producers hard across multiple counties, with agents fielding several calls per week from hay producers finding the pest.
Hay harvest continued.
Hay producers took advantage of the dry weather to bale, and a lot of hay was being made.
