For almost 90 years generations of Quebec dairy farmers have been selling their milk to the Agropur Cooperative. With more than 85,000 employees working in 266 production facilities in 51 different countries Lactalis is the largest dairy company in the world. This sale also includes the transfer of the Agropur facilities in Oka and Sainte-Hyacinthe which together employ about 400 people to Lactalis. Overall this may be a good thing for Quebec farmers. Lactalis Canada is a well-established company capable of bringing local cheeses to even more consumers across the country.
