Seneca’s Golden Corner Rotary Club learned today that Oconee County is moving toward its own asphalt paving crew, the goal being the capability to pave more road miles for the same taxpayer dollars than by contracting out all paving work, as explained by Matthew Durham. The county council chairman addressed the Rotarians at their Wednesday morning meeting. Later Durham told 101.7/WGOG NEWS, “Having our own crew also gives us greater flexibility to respond to road conditions, schedule work when it’s needed, and complete smaller projects that private contractors aren’t interested in bidding.
