First Look at Malaysian Cannibal Comedy ‘Ali & Ben’s Spicy Meats’Kuala Lumpur-based genre outfit Abnormal Studios has acquired worldwide international sales rights to Ali & Ben’s Spicy Meats, a Malaysian cannibal black comedy-horror from sibling filmmakers Iskander Azizuddin and Feisal Azizuddin, reports Variety. The film centers on two down-on-their-luck friends who accidentally create a wildly successful spicy beef jerky recipe—with one distinctly human ingredient. Original hand-drawn illustrations by Gladys Lee and Qistina Ishak are featured throughout the film as visual storytelling elements. “I wanted to tell a story that explores how desperation warps ordinary people, and how ambition often wears a friendly face, and that we are another person’s dish in this complex, twisted society we live in,” said co-director Feisal Azizuddin. The company plans to launch the film at the Asian Contents & Film Market (ACFM) in Busan this October.
