Happisburgh Coast Watch is urging visitors to be careful when digging due to the risks of sudden sand collapses, suffocation and injuries to other beachgoers or wildlife. The service, which is manned daily throughout the summer, is asking beachgoers to follow certain safety measures to prevent accidents. This includes keeping holes shallow, avoiding digging tunnels or steep vertical walls which collapse easily, and filling in all holes before leaving. The warning came after unfilled holes were found at the bottom of the RNLI ramp at Cart Gap Beach, making its use more challenging and potentially dangerous if accessed from the sides. The Happisburgh Coast Watch station is manned daily from 9am to 6pm throughout the summer, ensuring the safety of beach users.
