Glenda Thomas, Nutrition and Outreach Director for Marion Senior Services, right, helps Nelda Uter load hot meals for her Meals on Wheels route at Marion Senior Services in Ocala on May 7, 2025.
The money comes through the national organization’s 2026 Meeting Unmet Need initiative, which funds local providers working on senior hunger and isolation.
“Across the country, Meals on Wheels providers are working tirelessly,” Ellie Hollander, president and CEO of Meals on Wheels America, said in a statement provided by Marion Senior Services.
Marion Senior Services has been delivering meals to homebound residents across Marion County for more than five decades.
Marion Senior Services continues to seek volunteers, donors and community partners committed to helping eliminate the Meals on Wheels waiting list and ensuring every senior has access to nutritious meals and compassionate care.
