Dobbs overturned the 1973 Roe v. Wade decision and its related abortion precedents, returning the matter of abortion back to the legislative branch. A federal policy permitting distribution by mail of mifepristone was first issued by the Biden administration following the Dobbs decision. The USCCB is gearing up to mobilize Catholics all over the U.S. with resources in time for the Aug. 18 launch of the campaign. "We are also developing educational resources about the abortion pill, which will help explain distinctions between miscarriage care versus ending the life of a child in an abortion." The Catholic Church teaches that all human life is sacred from conception to natural death, and as such, opposes direct abortion.
