A bipartisan bill would expand federal research into AI’s effect on jobs, workforce training and the skills employees need to succeed. Carol Rogers, director of the Indiana Business Research Center at the Indiana University Kelley School of Business, said it starts with collecting information about how businesses are adapting to the new technology. Some researchers said it is still too early to know exactly how AI will reshape the workforce. Rogers argued better data will help identify changing job skills, guide workforce training and give policymakers a clearer picture of where workers may need additional support. Rogers noted states like Indiana already have detailed workforce and education records to help explain how AI is changing jobs.
