Local matching money could bring another $100,000 in addition to the $1 million already promised in federal funding for Knox County Transit operations, Transit Director Bethany Celmar told the Knox County Board of Commissioners on July 28. The total federal funding approved through the Ohio Department of Transportation was $1.5 million, including operations and capital funds. The operations funding works under a 50/50 match, with 50% federal funds and 50% in local funding. Celmar said adding the facility will raise visibility for Knox County Transit and provide a convenient location. There were 120 trips to Hiawatha Water Park resulting in many happy kids in Knox County.
