Knox County Coroner Dr. Jennifer Ogle and County Administrator Jason Booth will work on a pay increase proposal for coroner's staff and on a potential plan to convert a county property into a morgue for later presentation to the Board of Commissioners.
Ogle said her staff consists of an administrator and two nurses who serve as death investigators.
Currently, the temporary morgue is a cooler at the Knox County Sheriff's Office that can hold only one body without stacking.
He has discussed this possibility with Knox County Prosecuting Attorney Chip McConville and plans to consult an architect about necessary changes.
Ogle added that office space is not needed since her staff also works in her medical office.
