Previously on Sunbird... it was an Android app that let users partake in Apple iMessage conversations without a green bubble, and with myriad security problems. It came and it went, and then Apple added RCS support so that Android users could do exactly this without the privacy issues. To back this up, Sunbird quotes survey statistics that say "38% of Android users had missed or misunderstood messages because of the incompatibility." Everywhere else on the planet, the messaging app being used is WhatsApp, and that's equally ugly on iPhone and Android.
