The ÖBB Rail Cargo Group (RCG) has announced an expansion and modernisation of its fleet of wagons for the transport of light metal scrap and sheared scrap. A total of 500 Eanos-y freight wagons will be provided by MFD Rail – with deliveries having already begun at the start of the year and all wagons expected to be operational by mid-2027. Each freight wagon was developed by RCG and MFD Rail to specifically meet the requirements of light metal and sheared scrap transport, offering a larger loading volume and featuring a robust design in order to minimise damage.
