The Food Bank of Delaware has completed a new rooftop solar array at its Milford facility, which is expected to lower operating costs and help the organization direct more resources toward fighting hunger. The solar system, funded through a $1.017 million grant from Energize Delaware, includes 719 panels and is expected to generate about 546,000 kilowatt-hours of electricity each year. Officials say the array will offset about 60% of the facility’s annual electricity use, saving an estimated $37,000 annually and more than $2 million over the life of the system.
