The Sewanhaka Central High School District welcomed nearly 780 incoming seventh graders to its annual Summer Enrichment Program, held at all five school buildings from July 6-23. The free program provided students with an opportunity to become familiar with their new schools, meet teachers and classmates, and build confidence ahead of the start of the school year. Designed to re-engage, re-invigorate and re-ignite students’ love of school and learning, the Summer Enrichment Program eased the transition to middle school by offering a well-rounded experience that balanced academics, social-emotional learning, health and wellness, and hands-on activities. The Summer Enrichment Program concluded with action-packed Field Days at each school, where students celebrated their accomplishments, strengthened friendships and reflected on the connections they made throughout the program. By the end of the three weeks, participants left feeling more confident, prepared and ready to begin their middle school journey in September.
