Senators John Fetterman and Dave McCormick are joining together to propose a bill that aims to combat the spotted lanternfly. The two were joined by a bipartisan group of lawmakers to help thwart the destructive insect. The bill would designate the spotted lanternfly as an invasive species and calls for more research to help stop the spread of the insect. Fetterman specifically said the lanternfly poses a major threat to Erie and the grape and wine industry because of their destruction of vines.
