Lake Forest-based eye lens maker Staar Surgical has appointed Warren Foust as its new chief executive and president. Foust has served as interim co-CEO with Deborah Andrews since February following CEO Stephen Farrell’s departure after Staar’s proposed $1.6 billion sale to Alcon fell through. “After a rigorous global search, it is clear that Warren is the right leader to take STAAR forward,” Neal C. Bradsher, board chair, said in a statement. Andrews will transition to executive vice president and continue to serve as chief financial officer. Shares in Staar were down 3.2% to $23.34 and a $1.2 billion market cap (Nasdaq: STAA).
