New York's Summer Speed Patrols, What Drivers Need To Know

Anyway, on Monday, August 3rd, New York State Police and local law enforcement agencies began increasing patrols for the week to crack down on speeding.
The first Speed Week was conducted from June 8th through the 14th, resulting in a total of 56,578 tickets being issued.
Nationally in 2024, according to the U.S. Department of Transportation’s National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, there were 11,288 speed-related traffic fatalities, accounting for 29 percent of all traffic fatalities.
In 2024, 39 percent of male drivers and 20 percent of female drivers in the 15- to 20-year-old age group involved in fatal traffic crashes were speeding.
