Three Missouri men have been charged over an alleged plan to invade a Connecticut home and force a cryptocurrency holder to transfer stolen Bitcoin to accounts controlled by other members of the scheme. Each faces one count of conspiracy to interfere with commerce by robbery, commonly known as Hobbs Act robbery. The three Missouri men allegedly traveled to Connecticut with others between Aug. 21 and Aug. 24, 2024. The alleged plan was to enter the family’s home, threaten the target and force him to transfer cryptocurrency into wallets controlled by the scheme’s coordinators. The alleged robbery was not completed by the three Missouri defendants, but prosecutors are pursuing the case as a conspiracy.
