The Minnesota Department of Health is reporting more than 100 Salmonella cases in an outbreak that is largely tied to, but not limited to, the food chain Chipotle.
The outbreak has been linked to jalapeño peppers from a vendor used by Chipotle and other restaurants in Minnesota and other states around the country.
As of yesterday (August 4), the Minnesota Department of Health had seen 110 cases linked to this Salmonella outbreak.
In the statement, Chipotle acknowledged that the Minnesota Department of Health (MDH) and FDA are investigating the Salmonella outbreak, which they say has impacted several food service retailers in Minnesota and other states.
Hopefully we can get this new Salmonella outbreak fully under control and avoid more foodborne illness outbreaks as we continue through the later part of summer and head into fall.
