The Africa U18 Hockey Cup has always been about more than identifying the continent’s best young team. This year’s championship marks the beginning of a new chapter for African youth hockey. The inaugural 1st U18 Hockey5s Youth Africa Cup 2026 features five competing nations: Ghana, Kenya, Nigeria, South Africa and Uganda after Malawi withdrew ahead of the tournament. Uganda arrives determined to continue its upward trajectory and fight for one of the coveted World Cup qualification places.
