NBA rumors: The trade reason Kings’ continued interest in Jonathan Kuminga is going nowhere

Jonathan Kuminga is arguably the most sought-after free agency acquisition remaining on the market this offseason, and multiple teams have expressed interest in the former Atlanta Hawks man.
Per ESPN, despite holding a clear interest in Kuminga’s signature, any sign-and-trade deal that they manage to negotiate with the Hawks will leave them hard-capped at the first apron.
Further, in the absence of a sign-and-trade, Sacramento can only offer a minimum contract, something Kuminga is obviously not looking for.
However, any sign-and-trade deal must also include at least a three-year contract under NBA rules, which adds another obstacle to Sacramento's pursuit.
Kuminga and his camp once again appear to be patient and look set to hold out for a bigger contract despite the Lakers' offer being on the table.
