The new M3GAN spin-off movie, Soulm8te, skipped theaters and went straight to digital last weekend. In fact, fewer people saw M3GAN 2.0, the agreeably even-sillier 2025 sequel to the 2022 horror-comedy smash, in theaters than watched M3GAN just on its first weekend. That connection goes unspoken in Soulm8te, which was released over the weekend directly to streaming, where it’s available on premium VOD only, for the time being. Though Soulm8te was once intended for a theatrical release, the decision was made to send it straight to streaming, perhaps as a way of distancing it from the floundering M3GAN series and establishing itself as a separate entity. It’s a moot point, as this is currently the only way to watch Soulm8te, but worth pointing out.
