Chorus has launched a national precision timing service which it says will provide greater diversity and redundancy in New Zealand’s timing infrastructure.
According to Chorus, the offering, named TimeSync, will be the country’s first wholesale network-based precision timing service to help strengthen national resilience and support essential services.
Delivered in partnership with Nokia, TimeSync will use Chorus’ nationwide fibre network to provide organisations access to highly accurate, reliable and secure timing linked to Coordinated Universal Time (UTC) derived from atomic clocks run by the country’s official timekeepers, the Measurement Standards Laboratory (MSL).
