The saga of the Reflecting Pool may seem insignificant compared to the litany of other lurid and despotic actions by President Donald Trump and his allies.
It was early June, and Trump became frantic that the pool renovation would not be finished in time for America’s 250th July 4th celebration.
Joining in the frenzy was the U.S. Attorney for the District of Columbia, Jeanine Pirro, who parroted Trump’s incendiary rhetoric.
When reporters suggested that the damage to the pool may have been caused before Hearn’s act, Pirro responded: “He damaged it;” “He damaged the pool;” “He damaged this pool.”
Tim Walz quipped about the Reflecting Pool debacle: “Trump found an imaginary problem, said only he could fix it, hired buddies who grifted millions, failed miserably, bragged how great it went.
