Starkville aldermen on Tuesday joined Oktibbeha County in approving a tax incentive agreement for Project Jacket, the more than $200 million industrial development eyeing expansion in the county. But Mayor Lynn Spruill said the project is a planned expansion of an existing industry. “We’re grateful and excited that an existing industry not only wants to stay here, but they also want to expand here,” Howard said. Fisackerly still would not share the type of industry the project would bring but said if all goes according to plan, an announcement is expected next week. Oktibbeha County holds agreements with Starkville, The Greater Starkville Development Partnership and OCEDA to pay a portion of the $500,000 value in exchange for access to LINK’s services.
