Irish Times Article Highlights Kerry Civility in Defeat to Mayo

The Maine Valley Post
In the course of what can only be described as a lovely article, from a Kerry point of view, in The Irish Times on Wednesday, columnist Kathy Sheridan wrote about Kerry’s well practised ‘civility in defeat’ after last Sunday’s All-Ireland Senior Football Championship final loss to Mayo in Croke Park.
There are, probably, more Mayo people living here in Castleisland than I realise.
Kerry Civility v Argentinian LackMs. Sheridan also referred to the behaviour of the Argentinian soccer team after their defeat to Spain in the recent World Cup final:“In contrast to Kerry’s civility in defeat, the legend of the great Lionel Messi will forever be tainted by Argentina’s display of ugly losing.
No Swift, Sullen Exodus“There was no swift, sullen exodus at the final whistle.
We watched in real time as a clash of extraordinary athleticism, mythology and heart-stopping tension suddenly gave way to grace, gratitude and civility,” wrote Ms. Sheridan.
