Policymakers invested simultaneously in upstream exploration, gas infrastructure, LNG facilities, renewable energy, and regional energy integration. During fiscal year 2024/2025, Egypt announced 29 new oil and natural gas discoveries, adding approximately 1.85 trillion cubic feet (Tcf) of recoverable natural gas reserves. Egypt's proven natural gas reserves currently stand at approximately 58.2 Tcf, maintaining its position as one of Africa's leading natural gas producers. Renewable Energy as a Strategic InvestmentEgypt's energy strategy has also expanded beyond hydrocarbons. This progress supports Egypt's Integrated Sustainable Energy Strategy (ISES), which targets renewable energy accounting for approximately 42% of electricity generation capacity by 2030.
