They were joined by those from surrounding villages and people with historical connections to the area who wanted in on the fun. One of the organisers, former councillor Helen Law, said: “It was a great day, it always is. Races are always a highlight, and this year’s winner of the boys’ ‘marathon’ was Aaron Brown, followed by runner-up Steffan Davies. Helen continued: “It’s worth the work to keep the tradition alive, a lot of places haven’t managed to sustain their gala, but we’ve got an enthusiastic village here. Katie Jackson was named gala queen, with the princess being Iris Best.
