In his mind, most bands that attempt political lyrics struggle to pull it off, resulting in meaningless music or, let’s face it, “shite” songwriting. And according to Yorke, there’s only one band that did politics well anyway, and it’s one we can all probably agree on. On writing political lyrics, he concluded: “If you try and write anything political, it’s just… shite. When you look at it that way, it’s clear why Yorke doesn’t feel comfortable with people seeing Radiohead in the same way.
