The Kansas City Royals made their return to Kauffman Stadium eventful Tuesday, Aug. 4, striking the Minnesota Twins early before cruising to an 8-2 win over their division foes. Salvador Perez received a rousing welcome from the Royals faithful before the game, as the captain was recognized for breaking the franchise record for most home runs as a Royal. Michael Massey made it a 2-0 game when his double to center field scored Jac Caglianone. The eighth inning saw Josh Bell send a solo shot to center field in the top of the frame, only for Starling Marte and Kyle Isbel to respond with RBI hits in the home half of the inning. Joe Ryan took the loss, going 5.1 innings and allowing five runs (four earned) on seven hits and two walks, with three strikeouts.
