Boil water advisory lifted for parts of Mercer County, New Jersey following water main breakTRENTON, N.J. (WPVI) -- A precautionary boil water advisory has been lifted for parts of Mercer County, New Jersey.
Trenton Water Works had issued the alert Tuesday afternoon after a water main break happened on Olden Avenue between Arctic Parkway and Princeton Avenue in Ewing Township.
The New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection said they completed lab testing of water samples confirming that the drinking water meets all standards for quality and safety.
Trenton Water Works recommends that customers to the following before resuming normal use of tap water:- Run all cold water taps for three to five minutes to flush your service connection and interior plumbing with water from the service main- Empty and clean your automatic ice maker and water chillers- Drain and refill your water heater if the temperature is set below 113 degrees- Service connections with a water softener/cartridge filters should be run through a regeneration cycle or execute other procedures recommended by the manufacturer- In tall buildings, drain and refill water towers or tanks
