While Kirkland Lakers continue to experience summer temperatures, town council is turning its attention to winter and those who violate the municipality’s overnight parking bylaw. Currently the fine for parking overnight during the winter months is $30. Casey Owens, brought a motion to council, that would see “administration bring a report (back to council) on suggestions to increase the fine for overnight winter parking infractions from $30.00 to an average based on comparable municipalities.” Article contentSpeaking to his motion, Owens stated “we can’t rely on cooperation with residents solely; it doesn’t work. Some people, for whatever reason, choose to break the law (and) $30 is not enough of a determent.
