Lindisfarne proves folk rock magic is still alive at Sidmouth Festival

With internal tensions, line-up changes, splits, reunions and the death of the band’s key songwriter Alan Hull in 1995, Lindisfarne gradually faded from glory.
Today original founding member Rod Clements keeps the Geordie geniuses alive, fronting a talented band that does great justice to the classic 1970s’ Lindisfarne line-up.
This was proved convincingly on Saturday night as the band headlined Sidmouth’s Ham Marquee.
All too soon we reached the end, with the emotional hit “Run for Home” bringing the audience to its feet, followed by a boisterous “Clear White Light” as an encore.
Refreshingly different, their captivating harmonies and rich vocal arrangements breathed new life into old favourites, such as the rousing “Eliza Lee”, the powerful “Old Maui” and the rollicking “One More Day”.
