The Minister of Industries, Mines and Energy, Modestus Amutse, on Wednesday announced that the country’s upcoming Mineral Beneficiation Policy will be submitted to the President’s Office by the end of August.
Delivering his welcoming address at the official opening of the 13th Mining Expo and Conference in Windhoek, Minister Amutse stressed that domestic value addition and local participation throughout the mineral value chain are essential to securing national sovereignty, job creation, and sustainable economic growth.
“At the centre of our vision for the mining sector is the imperative of meaningful local participation throughout the mining value chain,” Amutse said.
“To unlock the full potential of our mineral resources, we must move beyond the mere extraction of raw materials.”
Addressing delegates during his first Mining Expo as Minister, Amutse declared Namibia’s mining sector a “sunrise industry” with substantial room for expansion.
